Hopefully, this communication finds you healthy and hopeful for the blessings that God will bring out of these unprecedented times. The Board of Redeeming Joy would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your faithful giving to the mission, vision, and values of our organization. Over the years we have had the honor to serve a myriad of women and allow God to work through Redeeming Joy to facilitate rehabilitation for those caught in the bondage of human trafficking.
As you know, we have been spending the last year developing a plan to acquire a home owned by Redeeming Joy. The goal was to have a home that was owned and maintained by Redeeming Joy that would allow us to implement our program nationally. Our prior meeting finalized our strategic plan and created an organized platform to begin training speakers and volunteers to assist us in the implementation process.
The arrival of COVID-19 has necessitated the Board to pray and contemplate whether we should continue to move forward. The reality is that our strategic plan would be delayed at least another 3 years if we were to continue down our current path. After much prayer and consideration, the Board has created a plan to close Redeeming Joy and ensure that the resources we have accumulated are donated to Christian organizations with a heart to serve this population and that have a history of working towards rehabilitation.
Redeeming Joy has had the privilege to work alongside some amazing Anti Human Trafficking organizations within our community. We have journeyed together to bring awareness, support, and resources to both the victims and to our community at large. COVID-19 has brought more victims needing help and these organizations are providing additional support on a more limited funding stream. As supporters, you are likely familiar with one or more of them. We have been overwhelmed by the heart of our donors to give to this great injustice, and believe that you will continue to support similar organizations like Redeeming Joy.
In the days to come, you will be seeing the official announcement on our website and social media streams. The official close date was April 27, 2020. Any funds received after this date will be returned to the donor. We will be removing ourselves from AmazonSmile; therefore, donors who have been supporting RJ through AmazonSmile may want to support one of the organizations that are included in the attached list of Charlotte Community Partners. We are confident this choice will allow your donations and our resources to go towards the continued mission of fighting against human trafficking and the bondage it creates.
From the birth of Redeeming Joy, we have said that it takes a community to see the women we have served to be set free. As a community, we have done this in a way that we believe honors God and want to thank you for running this race with us and doing it so well.
